Youth 6U - 14U Divisions

6U Program

The 6U (Mini-Mite) Program is typically for 4-6 year olds.  (Note: Age 3 & Novice Age 7 also allowed)

The 6U Mini-Mite program is designed to balance skill development, introducing the game of hockey, having fun and developing a love of the game.  We utilize the ADM hockey philosophy which introduces skill development through small area games.  This teaching methodology has proven very effective for skills but also maintaining the player’s interest in the game.

8U Programs

The 8U (Mite) Programs are typically for 7-8 year olds.  8U programs include: House (Recreational, Ages 6-10 allowed) and Cross Ice (Travel, Ages 7-8 allowed).

10U Program

At the 10U level, girls and boys transition to full ice games and situations.   10Us represent the ideal period of accelerated learning and transfer of key skills and concepts from practices to games.  The 10U level emphasizes skating, puck handling as well as team interaction and team building. The balance of practices and games will promote the continued development and mastery of key hockey skills and the love of the game.

12U Program

The 12U players are still in that ideal period of accelerated learning and utilization of skills and concepts.  12U "PeeWees" will continue to enhance key hockey skills and decision making, as coaches begin to emphasize the development of situational individual and group tactics.

14U Program

The focus of the 14U program for our 13 and 14 year olds, is to further enhance hockey skills, and the continued development of individual and group tactics.  Bantams will continue to refine their hockey skills, decision making, and their development in the areas of speed, strength and stamina.  Body checking begins at the Youth 14U level.  (Note: Body checking is still a penalty at the Girls 14U level.)
