About CSB Youth Hockey

Chittenden-South Burlington (CSB) Youth Hockey Association was formed in June 1982 as a non-profit organization for the purpose of teaching children the game of ice hockey. CSB primarily serves the towns of South Burlington, Shelburne, Charlotte, Hinesburg, Williston, and St. George, as designated by the Vermont State Amateur Hockey Association (VSAHA).

CSB is a volunteer organization, governed by a Board of Directors which is composed of parent volunteers. CSB’s programs are designed to be the foundation for improving skills, increasing participation levels, and creating a positive environment for youth hockey players. Most importantly, in partnership with the American Development Model (ADM) and the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), CSB  strives to teach our children life lessons through the sport of hockey that will help them develop into healthy, happy and succesful adults.

We teach our players to "Give Their Best", "Do What's Right" and to "Treat Others As We Want To Be Treated".

Sportsmanship and Fun are stressed in all of our programs, at all levels.

Skaters must be at least 4 years old by October 1st of the current year.

RECREATIONAL - Emphasizes "house league" play. The emphasis of the Recreational program is to provide opportunities to play hockey for enjoyment as well as developing skills and team concepts.

Travel is on a regular basis (each weekend), is typically within a 90 minute radius of Cairns Arena, but can occasionally be as far as 2.5 - 3 hrs from Cairns. Travel Teams will have at least one, weekend long, away tournament during the season. In addition, VASHA sponsors a State Tournament at the end of the season for all travel teams (Tier 2(AA), Tier 3 (A) and Tier 4(B)). A 1st or 2nd place finish at the State level for 10U (Squirt) Tier 2, 12U (PeeWee)  Tier 2, 14U (Bantam) Tier 2 may lead to a Regional and potentially a National Tournament. A 1st at the State level for 10U Tier 3, 12U Tier 3 or 14U Tier 3 may lead to a Sectional Tournament.
